Life Support Systems is a mission that tries to recreate the conditions necessary for the life in a cockpit of small dimensions, contemplating aspects as the temperature, the pressure, the dampness and the composition of the air between others. For it one tries to use LSS’s module already used in the previous mission of the same name. The above-mentioned module consists with two cylindrical and concentric chambers of 13 and 15 mm of diameter respectively and 300 mm of high place.
Both chambers have an active control of the pressure so as to support the exterior chamber to an intermediate pressure and interior to the pressure adapted for the life. For the control of this pressure there is in use a cylinder loaded with air with a suitable composition, controlled by three valves. The control of the temperature implemented by a PID and by a resistor of active form and for a cap of polyurethane in foam and thermal blanket of passive form between the outside and inside chambers.
The electronics will consist of a type of arduino control, the sensors required for information inputs (BMP280, BMP085, MQ7, MQ8, Grove O2 sensor, humidity sensor, pressure sensor), the supply system consisting of a LiPo of 11, 3 Volts. These electronic devices are implemented on PCB boards and will be supported by and structure produced in 3D material and carbon fiber.
Part by part Life support systems include a high-altitude balloon launch, so it is necessary to include all the logistics, telemetry and structure involved in making such a launch.
- Study the conditions that must be played in order to guarantee life in an enclosure.
- Planning and construction of a cockpit ( 130x130x300 mm 0,005 m3)
- Installation of the sensors necessary for the control of these conditions (temperature, humidity, oxygen, CO2, pressure, radiation etc.)
- Approach and subsequent installation of the feedback in order to regulate these conditions (heaters, coolers, oxygen pumps, valves etc.)
- Design and implementation of systems of control and stability.
- Design a control interface on the structure of the cockpit can set parameters to control.
- Possess Test System Life Support Systems in a medium physiological condition necessary for life, for example in launching the type NESLab
